For the Versatile Express Family

The VersatileTM Express family development platform provides an excellent environment for prototyping the next generation of system-on-chip designs. Through a range of plug-in daughterboards hardware and software applications can be developed and debugged.

The Motherboard Express ATX is a motherboard especially designed to support future generations of ARM processors, starting with support for the CortexTM -A9 processor. It enables:

    The Motherboard Express ATX includes all the necessary peripherals that enable you to port, prove, and develop operating systems and applications for new processors and graphics engines.

    The motherboard accepts CoreTile Express daughterboards, allowing the user to select the best processor option. It also supports FPGA prototyping with LogicTile Express daughterboards, enabling implementation of customer peripherals for early validation, and software development using an ARM processor.

    Motherboard Express μATX Architecture

    The configuration system enables programming and updating of the CoreTile Express A9x4. When connected to a Versatile Express motherboard this includes application software programming into NOR Flash, and configuring the operation parameters of the daughterboard and motherboard (via configuration files).

    The daughterboard communicates to the motherboard via a static memory interface for all peripheral and flash memory accesses.

    The Multimedia bus is used to transport video and audio (not AC97) data streams to the HDMI transmitter: this can be configured as DVI or HDMI output. In addition, an analogue DAC is implemented to support analogue video output over the DVI-I connector.

    The System bus allows interrupts and DMA transactions to be passed from the motherboard peripherals to the relevant daughterboard. The exported AXI interfaces have dedicated routing between the two daughterboards for an optimal prototyping solution.
